The Theory and Practice of Enlightened Society
The teachings of Chögyam Trungpa, Rinpoche on how to build a contemplative socio-political culture, a series of talks by Robin Kornman and other Senior Students.
This program of video and audio recordings is sponsored by the Trungpa Rinpoche Legacy Project. Over the years the Dorje Dradul evolved a system of training which transformed one’s personal path into a way of creating an enlightened society. At the center of the society was the mandala or palace of the guru/king and his students, who were trained to be bodhisattva courtiers. The “court” formed by the teacher and his or her inner circle became a model for how a society based on contemplative principles could exist.
In this series of talks Robin Kornman and a group of senior students will present their memory of the Vidyadhara’s oral instructions on how to build such a court and how students can become yogi-courtiers in this environment. Some of these teachings exist in Trungpa Rinpoche’s writings, but many of them were presented in personal training sessions that were never recorded as transcripts. |
